How do I reset the Authorisation code for a domain name?

You can do that via the portal while logged in as a user with the support role or you can use EPP via an update command.

Authorisation codes must be between 6 and 16 characters in length and may only contain alphanumeric characters (lowercase a to z, uppercase A to Z, or numerals 0 to 9) or the hyphen (-) and underscore (_) characters.

An authcode can be viewed and reset from the portal by a user with the support role and can be reset using EPP.

When do I have to provide IP address glue for nameservers?

Fury requires host IP address glue for all hosts subordinate to .nz and will always publish these in the zone file regardless of whether this is necessary for resolution.

When a domain is transferred do new contacts need to be created?

No, the existing contact objects will be cloned and carried across when the Domain is transfered.

Is a Contact Authorisation code required to create and update contact records?

A contact authorisation code is required to be provided as part of the contact create command. This is part of the EPP standard and authorisation information is a required field. Contacts are not transferred between registrars so the authorisation information will not be used. You do not need to provide the contact Authorisation code when updating a contact.

Which contact types are required for a domain name?

Registrant, Admin, and Technical contacts are required. You can also add a Billing contact but that is optional.

A domain may only have one occurrence of each type of contact. A contact object can be assigned to a domain as a single or any combination of the registrant, admin and technical contact.

Are linked hosts editable?

Host objects are shared among multiple registrars. This means any registrar can associate a domain name to any host object. Only the sponsor of a .kiwi superordinate domain name can create the subordinate host object, and only the sponsor can update the host object.

What is the registration grace period for a domain?

Add period (addPeriod) - The grace period (5 days) after which the domain name has been added to the registry. If the domain is deleted during this period, there is a refund for the cost of the registration and the domain goes straight to a pending delete state, skipping the redemption period.

see Domain Lifecycle Status.

What is the renewal grace period for a domain?

Renew period (renewPeriod) - The grace period (5 days) after a domain has been explicitly renewed by the Registrar. This grace period following a domain name renewal allows the Registrar to delete the domain if necessary and obtain a credit for the cost of the renewal.

Auto-renew period (autoRenewPeriod) This grace period (45 days) occurs after a domain has been automatically renewed by the Registry. If the domain is deleted during this period, there is a refund for the cost of the renewal.

see Domain Lifecycle Status.

Is there anyway to override the Registration Grace Period?

No. The grace period is set by the registry at 5 days and is not changeable by registrars.

Can I restore an expired domain that is no longer in redemptionPeriod?

Once a domain has passed its expiry date and is no longer in the redemptionPeriod it cannot be restored. Domains can only be restored while they are in redemptionPeriod.

Can I disable auto-renew for a domain?

No. Auto-renew cannot be disabled for any domain.

How soon after expiry will a domain automatically renew?

Auto-renew is triggered by the Housekeeper process which runs every 320 seconds (5 minutes and 20 seconds). So an expired domain will auto-renew within 320 seconds of its expiry.

For example, if a domain expires at the 300 second mark then the housekeeper runs 20 seconds later and the domain auto-renews. But if a domain expires exactly on the first second of the timer the housekeeper will run in the next 319 - 320 seconds and auto-renew the domain.

Can I use non Latin characters for contacts?

Yes. Fury uses UTF-8 encoding which does support special characters in the name and address fields of contact objects.
