2025-05-27 Conflicted Domain Names resolution process closes soon - midday 1 July 2025
Kia ora koutou
In February, we let conflicted domain name holders know that the current conflicted domain names process would be closing in July this year. This is a final reminder about the upcoming change.
Key information for conflicted domain name holders
If you would like to register the shorter domain name, you still have a few weeks to use the existing process and agree with the other party/parties about who should register the shorter domain name. The party/parties withdrawing from the conflict will need to log in to the database and register a change of preference in the database before midday on Tuesday, 1 July 2025.
Remember that the conflicted domain name process does not affect your ability to use the domain name already registered to you. The process relates to qualifying to register another, shorter domain name.
Names that are not resolved through change of preference before midday on Tuesday, 1 July 2025 will remain blocked until there is only one domain name left in the conflict set. After 1 July, no private agreements to resolve the conflicts will be processed.
