IRS 9.0 release date change

Please note that the release to OTE for IRS 9.0 has now been moved from 26 November to 2 December 2024.

Although the move to IRS version 9.0 signifies a major change in the IRS version, the changes will predominantly happen in supporting infrastructure components, and our infrastructure engineers are the ones most affected by this release. We still strongly encourage registrars to perform testing for each new IRS release, as InternetNZ is not able to test registrar processes that are specific to your implementation. The change log for this release is now published on the Product Documentation website

.nz promotional website is about to go live

Our .nz promotional website, JumpStarter, is going live soon, and you’ll be the first to know once it’s live. JumpStarter will target New Zealanders planning to start a business or a side hustle and guide them through the early days of establishing a business. Our main goal is to generate qualified leads for our .nz registrars.

Authorised .nz registrars that sell domains directly to the public are eligible to be featured on the JumpStarter website. If you are happy to be on the website, you don’t need to do anything. You can opt out from being on the website and opt back in at any time by emailing registry@internetnz.net.nz.

Change freeze over the holidays

Our change freeze window for the holiday period this year is 13 December to 7 January. During this time, there will be no registry product releases or unplanned changes to our product infrastructure. Engineers will be on-call to address operational and security incidents with the existing infrastructure should they arise. The change freeze thaws on 7 January and we’ll be back to business as usual.

Holiday period registry support

Our .nz support team will be available all regular business days over the Christmas and New Year period via email at registry@internetnz.net.nz and phone at (+64) 4 931-6970 from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. NZDT.

Our call centre will cover after-hours and public holidays for emergency technical support at (+64) 4 496-4697. Please refer to our website for detailed after-hours support information.

Public holidays:

  • 25 December 2024

  • 26 December 2024

  • 1 January 2025

  • 2 January 2025

Few more days to have your say about the conflicted names

InternetNZ is running a public consultation on whether it’s time to change how conflicted .nz domain names are managed. The consultation will close on 27 November, so there’s still time to submit your feedback on our preferred way of managing the remaining conflicted names.

Conflicted domain name review background information, our proposed approach to managing the conflicted names, and reasons and exceptions are available on the InternetNZ website

If you have any questions about the consultation, please email dotnzreview@internetnz.net.nz.

Kind regards | Ngā mihi,
