2024-10-21 IRS 9.0 release dates and testing¶
Kia ora!
We are preparing for the next IRS release that includes all the revisions and updates made since version 8.17.2.
The planned schedule for this release is
12 November 2024 — 9.0 release into OTE/testing
19 January 2025 — 9.0 release into Production
The IRS release 9.0 change log will be available on the InternetNZ Product Documentation website here before we release it to OTE.
Your testing window is November 13th—27th 2024, and we strongly encourage you to test your processes before the release is deployed to production. Testing can continue after this window, but any release changes that cause material risk must be reported to InternetNZ by the end of the day NZDT 27th November 2024.
About our testing process
Before we ask registrars to perform IRS release testing, we deploy the release to our staging environment. We run all the EPP and Portal smoke tests and release-specific tests.
Our smoke testing covers all functions of the EPP client. We then run the tests created explicitly for the changes in the IRS release. Those changes are specified in the change log. During this time, testing is also performed on the IRS Portal interface.
If any issues arise from our staging testing, we halt any further releases until they have been fully resolved.
A change log for the registrars is published on the InternetNZ Technical Documentation website
Registrar testing process
We strongly encourage registrars to perform testing for each new IRS release, as InternetNZ is not able to test registrar processes that are specific to your implementation.
Registrars must notify us of any release change that causes them material risk during the testing window. We will evaluate and respond during the same period and may request to see your testing logs to assist in this process.
If there are any questions or if a registrar requires any further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us via our standard support channels. We are here to help.
Notifications
The first notification of a release will be given to your key contact email we have on file. You’ll receive additional reminders about the upcoming releases via the registrar newsletter, Slack, and the Status Page
Changes to the release timetable
In the event of a change to the release timetable, we will perform the following actions:
Send a notification via email detailing the changes (registrars should ensure that InternetNZ has your up-to-date contact email for release notifications)
Update the maintenance window on the InternetNZ Status Page.
