Kia ora!

Welcome to the .nz registry replacement technical newsletter.

You are receiving it because you have nominated yourself as the primary contact for the .nz registry replacement project.

In today’s newsletter:

  • Update on the new IRS Connection Agreement

  • Changes in billing terms: where to find information and assistance

  • Next technical forum on 27 and 28 April — data migration

Update on the new IRS Connection Agreement

We were planning to share the new InternetNZ Registry System (IRS) Connection Agreement with you by 31 March 2022. There’s a slight delay and deadline change for it.

Please see a new timeline for the Connection Agreement’s ETA:

By 30 April 2022: you will receive the new IRS Connection Agreement.

By 31 May 2022: you need to review and sign the Connection Agreement and send it back to registry.replacement@internetnz.net.nz.

What do you need to do meanwhile?

Please notify your assigned resource(s) about the deadline changes for the IRS Connection Agreement and ensure the resource(s) would be available to review the agreement in May.

Please note that the IRS Connection Agreement is a crucial part of your access to the IRS, so we strongly encourage you to allocate enough time for the review.

We appreciate your understanding and your cooperation throughout the registry replacement journey. Please reach out to registry.replacement@internetnz.net.nz if you have any questions.

Changes in billing terms: where to find information and assistance

Just a reminder: after the IRS go-live date, the minimum term for .nz domain registration will change from one month to one year.

This change affects some .nz registrars and their clients. We reached out to impacted registrars earlier this month. You can refer to InternetNZ Product Documentation website for guidance around handling the billing changes.

Currently, we aim to go live on 3 August 2022. If your customers are billed monthly, you’ll need to inform them about the change before that date.

Please reach out to the .nz registry replacement team if you need further assistance.

Next technical forum on 27 and 28 April — data migration

.nz registrars technical forum will take place on 27 and 28 April, both in EU and NZ time zones. We are looking forward to the discussion about data migration and will provide some reading materials prior to the meeting.

In early May, we will share the data migration information with all registrars.
