2023-02-20 nz registrar news - February 2023 ============================================= **Kia ora!** Welcome to the .nz registrar update. You are receiving it because you have been a primary contact for the .nz registry replacement project or subscribed for the .nz registry updates. In today’s email: * .nz Rules amendments * Registrar registry migration feedback * Meeting in person at ICANN * Removal of the old registrar portal **.nz Rules amendments** Since publishing the .nz Rules, we have received some feedback from various stakeholders and identified minor amendments to tidy up the .nz Rules. The amended .nz Rules are now published on our `website `_ as well as the `list `_ of the changes. The amended Rules will come into effect on 31 March 2023. If you have any questions/comments about the amendments please email us at dotnzreview@internetnz.net.nz before Friday 24 March 2023. We’ll also send you a separate email shortly about the .nz Rules change. **Registrar registry migration feedback** Thank you very much to everyone who participated in the registry migration survey — it’s full of useful insights. A few of you mentioned some gaps in the documentation and said it could've been organised better. Thank you for this feedback, we are taking it on board and have already started working on a better documentation experience. Please bear with us while we do that — it’s a big job, and the documentation keeps evolving and changing. Meanwhile, please let us know if you think something is missing or could be improved, and we’ll do our best to address that ASAP. We appreciate your feedback on the preparation for the migration and what could’ve been done better. We are not planning any big migrations for the next couple of decades, but it’ll help us plan any other registry development and maintenance work. The registry replacement was the largest tech transformation ever made by InternetNZ, and it was due: our bespoke 20-year-old SRS became more challenging to maintain and develop in our modern digital environment, and we needed to migrate to the global industry standard EPP protocol and offer a platform that also had a portal interface allowing more self-management for registrars. Thank you again for going on that journey with us. It has been a big change for all of you, and we appreciate your support of this change and all your kind words and positive feedback about this migration. **Meeting in person at ICANN** Tim Johnson, our Tumuwhanake | General Manager Customer and Product, will attend ICANN76 Community Forum in Cancún, Mexico, on 11-16 March 2023. It’s a great opportunity to meet in person and talk all things .nz, grab some .nz merch and have a coffee. Please email Tim at timj@internetnz.net.nz to organise a catch up. **Removal of the old registrar portal** The `SRS registrar portal `_ was switched off at end of business day NZDT Friday the 17 February. If you have any questions about this please contact registry@internetnz.net.nz. **Do you know someone who needs to receive future .nz newsletters?** Please share the `subscription link `_ with your team members if they are interested in the .nz updates. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time via a link in this email’s footer. We advise having at least one registrar team member receive them, though — all the .nz registry updates will come via these emails. Kind regards, **.nz team**
